Client: Regional Municipality of York
Accardi Schaeffers, in collaboration with York Region, has conducted a comprehensive review of existing design and construction standards and practices in the Greater Toronto Area. Additionally, we have actively studied the sources of inflow and infiltration (I&I) in new developments to gain a better understanding of these sources. The goal of this project is to standardize the approach across the region, encouraging adoption by each of the nine local municipalities, in order to proactively work towards extending the service life of new infrastructure.
Through the various project stages and rigorous consultation with local municipalities, the development industry and industry groups, the team developed the I&I Reduction Standard for Sewers Servicing New Development. This industry-leading standard specifically addresses issues related to I&I in new developments and is currently undergoing the implementation and adoption strategy.
