Accardi Schaeffers was awarded the Aurora Feedermain Replacement/ Rehabilitation Project by York Region that was located on Yonge Street within the Town of Aurora. The client’s main concern was rehabilitation of the existing watermain at the intersection of Yonge St. and Industrial Parkway South because of the high ground water table. 

The project’s key deliverables included the successful installation of a 450-mm PVC watermain through Horizontal Directional Drilling and the implementation of a 400-mm CIPP Lining System for the rehabilitation of an existing ductile iron watermain within the road allowance.

The scope of work encompassed: 

open-cut and HDD installation of PVC watermain (approximately 0.5 km in length); disinfection of the watermain; removal of three existing valve chambers, and installation of seven new mainline valve chambers and two new drain valve chambers; installation of 11 new fire hydrants; replacement of two existing fire hydrants; restoration of water service connections; replacement of substandard water services to the street line; installation and disinfection of temporary bypass systems; excavation of access pits; pipe cleaning; CCTV inspection; installation, curing, and testing of a new structural liner approximately 1.4 km in length; as well as monitoring and maintaining dewatering logs, and reviewing dewatering sample results.
