Client: Regional Municipality of York
The Aurora Feedermain Replacement Project involved the replacement of approximately 1800m of 450mm and 350mm diameter ductile iron watermain along Ridge Road and Yonge Street in the Town of Aurora. This watermain, including the replacement of 7 valve chambers, conveys water from the Ridge Road Reservoir into the Aurora distribution system. Due to the presence of several private service connections, it was determined that the watermain should be considered a distribution watermain owned and operated by the Town of Aurora. Therefore, once the replacement project was completed, ownership of the watermain was transferred to the Town. The design of the watermain, chambers, and appurtenances adhered to the specifications of the Town of Aurora, and a memorandum of understanding for the transfer of the completed project was executed prior to construction.
Additionally, the section of watermain located below the Metrolinx grade separation was completed by the Region’s Transportation Department. Accardi Schaeffers also provided assistance with the installation of twin 300 mm diameter sewage forcemains in the southern portion of the Aurora Yonge Street Feedermain Replacement project area.
